Hi. Looking for some guidance. My hens will be turning one this June. I have an opportunity to get some Guinea Hens as chicks in June. Would it be okay to mix them together.
Love the thought that one day the Guineas would make good watchdogs.

Our chicks have free-ranged the yard all summer and fall until we had our first meeting with a fox and lost one silkie to the fox - now I am so nervous to let them out of their pen.
Would the Guineas actually protect the chickens? (2 silkies and 1 RIR and 3 pullets.

Thanks for your thoughts,
Tracy

We have 3 guineas with our 23 chickens. They eat, drink, roost and run around all over the place with them. They are a lot more skittish then the chickens but they will come close to us.

We have a cooper hawk that comes around from time to time and the guineas go crazy when it does.
