My hens had been sitting on about 20 eggs for over two weeks but critters killed one of them.if I move the eggs into a protected area will my remaining hen sit on them again after leaving the nest? Also, how long are the eggs viable after she leaves the nest?

Hi TwoPine, sorry to hear about your bird. Most of what I've read suggest they will not sit on them but results definitely vary. I know that I had a clutch I removed a couple eggs from a couple of times but left several and they abandoned the whole lot. That said, they probably aren't going to get hatched anyway and you don't want to lose the other bird so I'd say try it!

Thanks. I was able to get my hands on an old incubator and put the eggs in. They have been abandoned for over 18 hours so i dont know if they are still viable or not but since its been warm out its worth a try

Hmm ya 18 hours on one side might be a bit much but definitely worth a shot! HOpefully you will be posting keet pics soon. :D

8 (and counting) have hatched. Not bad for an abandoned nest.
