I hatched 8 guinea keets last fri/sat. They have been in a brooder in the garage by themselves all week and doing fine. I switched from papertowels to pine shavings on Wed with no apparent problems. They're growing fine, eating and drinking fine and I haven't noticed any health issues. A little while ago I was out in the garage with a friend and one of the keets was peeping really loud. It was laying in the brooder away from the other and panting and peeping. I picked it up and looked it over and saw no injuries or problems other than panting. When I put it back in the brooder it ran over to the other keets then back away from them and fell down. It suddenly kinda jumped and landed on it's back, turned itself over then did the exact same thing again, I picked it up and it died in my hands a few seconds later. It was almost like it was having a seizure or something, any ideas?

I have a heat lamp over the brooder and temp was close to 100, but the keets where at the other end.

They are on medicated turkey starter.

If the keets were at the other end from the lamp, I'm thinking they're too hot? Time to drop the temp 5 degrees? There have got to be some experts on here that can give you better ideas.

Thanks, that's the same response I got on the guinea board.

Temps jumped because of the heat here, so i turned off the lamp and opened the window on the front of the brooder.
