Will a male guinea hurt a chicken hen like a drake can hurt a hen? I know nothing about guineas and a friend wants to give me some because I gave him some chickens and eggs. I don't really want any but he is so excited about them. He is giving me 2 ducklings to but I don't want t a drake.

Hey! I'm going to attach a site that is VERY useful about introducing guineas and chickens together, it talks about pecking order/feed ration differences/ etc. Hope this helps! I have thought about getting guineas myself, just never gone through with it yet! Hopefully you have great success with your guineas!:wee:celebrate:love:love:love
Good luck! :thumbsup

There is some good information on that site but there is also bad information.

Keets should be started with a high protein turkey or gamebird starter that is 28% to 30% protein. It will also contain higher concentrations of lysine, methionine and niacin. They should be on this for the first 6 weeks and then switched to a turkey or gamebird grower that is about 24% protein. As adults a quality all flock of at least 16% protein is good for them. I feed my adult guineas 20% protein layer pellets along with free choice oyster shell.

The following statement is completely false.

"Medicated feed should never be given to Guineas since it is highly toxic to them."

Medicated feed which contains amprolium is not toxic to guineas.

Read Raising Guinea Fowl 101 and pay particular attention to posts made by @PeepsCA who is the guinea expert. She recommends medicated turkey starter for keets.

There are other inaccuracies in that site.
