Guinea pen question

I think this must be a common problem- has anyone had luck raising guineas within a fence rather than a closed top pen? I read I need to get them comfortable in the coop for a few weeks so that they know they're home. Then I think I'll let them out into the open top pen (with wings clipped) to let them get familiar with the other birds, maybe keep their wings clipped for some months. Finally I'll let them grow their feathers out to get out of the pen and patrol. Has anyone had problems with them scaling fences even though their wings are clipped? Would treats help them stay in if so?

They can walk, climb right up a fence even with their wings clipped.

I would not clip wings. I just made sure to herd them back iinto their pen whenever they let themselves out. Eventually they spent most of the time iin the pen.

It helps if the pen is really big.
