Guineas all took off, only one came back

Could your hens all be out sitting on nests? I just find it odd that after a year they would all just take off and get lost. While guineas are not the brightest bulbs in the pack, after being raised by you for a year they should be able to find home.

I thought it was odd also and now it is just the males that came back, that day I left just for about an hour and then a bad storm hit and I came home and all were gone. They had a nest in the coop, so I wouldn't think they would leave to make a new one. It is very odd I agree. The one who came home this morning was happy to see me and happy to be home. I hope they are not making new nest somewhere because they are not safe on the ground. I asked the mill to keep their ears open with my phone number. Fingers are crossed they come home safe:fl

You are right watchdogps, I have found out a lot of people don't know what guineas are. I had to put pictures up and I tried to mimic the sound because they may hear them without seeing them. The neighbor was wondering what that sound was in her back yard and then seen it and thought it was a rare bird when I went to check to see if she saw anything. Her and her husband loved it. A lot of people think their sound is annoying, but they thought it was neat. I love their sound, but I don't meet a lot of people that agree with me.

I agree my dad hates my guineas but i love the noises they make, well then again i love everything about them even there adorable faces.

Y'all are right about people not knowing what guineas are.....a perfect example is this YouTube video I saw where a Guinea got into a residential area (condo complex) and was video taped by some young men who were trying to save him. They kept referring to it as a "wild turkey." LOL.

I'm so sorry about your Guineas. I can tell it's heartbreaking for you, and I just wish I were close by and could help you look. I'm so sorry.

I still have only two that came home, but I have babies from them and in three more days I will have more babies. I couldn't let the eggs go to waste I had to hatch them out. I think I will just keep a few of them because I don't want the heart break of lossing more and I don't think I could just leave them in a coop all day. Guineas need more space then what I have in the coops.

aww thank you TarheelBirdy, I wish I could find them

Another idea - maybe the local news or papers would do a story on the missing birds? Small towns always need news, maybe the weird birds go astray would be interesting enough?
