Guineas and eggs

I have a pair of guineas and I want to hatch there eggs they are 10 months old and are free ranged. I do not want to gamble on her nesting and me not finding the eggs so if I pen the pair up and give her something to hide behind will she lay eggs and nest in a pen. Second question what time of the year will she start laying, I live in the midland of South Carolina spring will begin latter part of March so when should I pen the pair up.

It will help to seed the nest with a fake egg. When the days get long enough to satisfy her diurnal clock, she will begin laying. Since you are in a southern state, that time may be coming very soon.

well sometimes it might depend. the is a forum here on BYC " guinea laying" it gives a great information and much more.
guineafowls hate bieng locked up and much prefer much more freedom than any game bird. it become stressful if they become locked,from a long freeranging habit.they can find all the essential food required by the body during breeding, snails which act as a protein and calcium. And the fertility of freranging guineas is higher than cooped guines.
breeding is determined by rainfalls which is spring thru fall. but if you feed your guineas well balanced feed diet,they can breed late winter if you live in shifted Axis.
