I am SO upset.

We got about 6” of snow today - the guineas got confused - theres 11 in trees. It’s going to 31° tonight but no more snow/rain/sleet.

What are their chances of making it?

Take some straw or hay and making a landing lane for them.

They can do fine in that temperature. It is just the problem with predators if they aren't in a secure coop for the night.

You needed to get them out of the trees before it got dark.

This is common behavior for guineas with their first snow experience.

Sorry that happened! They should fare the cold ok, it's predators you have to worry about. Are there a lot of critters around your place?

I don’t have a huge predator load thankfully. I had a bobcat once about 2 years ago but nothing since then. A lone coyote once but honestly, not many issues. The cold is what had me worried.

The snow will mostly be gone by tomorrow morning, plus now there’s mule ruts in it from me driving around - so there’s ground they can see and get through.

yes I should have gone down earlier but they had mostly settled in the barn but I guess their coop instinct got the best of them and then when they headed to the coop, they freaked out.

Predators aren’t a terrible problem here - knock on wood - so I was just concerned with the cold.

Best of luck with their night out! Let know how it goes tomorrow!

Update -

soooo the snow hasn’t melted AT ALL. But our temps are rising (currently at 37° from 31° this morning!) - I got out at first light. So far I’ve gotten eyes on 13 of the 14, I’m sure the 14th is here I just haven’t seen her yet.
Chickens are all good too.
Everything is such a steep learning curve for guineas! Hope they have the snow figured out now...
