Gender is almost impossible to tell by looks; most folks have to wait for them to find their call, and even then it is difficult because the females have two calls (and one is identical to the males). As far as their adult color...

I have some that are colored like yours, and I'm up in the air between Royal Purple and Violet. I won't be able to tell until their molt into adult colors, around 3 months.

These are pearl grays. You can tell royal purples from pearl grays as soon as they fluff out and until their heads start to change color. Look at the stripes on top of the head. If the stripes are solid, they are pearl grays. If they are broken or "swirly" AND if they have white faces, belllies and part of their wings, they are royal purple--they'll lose the white as they mature. Violets are a cinnamon bown with NO stripes at all. The tops of their heads are darker, and they have white faces, bellies and part of their wings; they also lose the white. They are VERY different from pearls and royal purples.
