Years ago, back when guineas were first admitted to the standard I took 7 Lavender to shows. We always got comments, usually from judges, about how well our guineas behaved. I made it a point to work with them daily, handle them, carry them around, and trust them with the cages open(we often kept our show birds in exhibition cages to make them comfortable). What I want to know is this.
Does guinea judging ever really go in depth at shows these days? When we took them we usually got best guinea just simply for the fact that the judges could open the cage and access the guinea with ease. But I want to know if it is more than handling, do they check for a uniform type/plumage; basically do they check them to standard?
I don't plan to show guineas, they are more eye candy for me(I plan on exhibiting chickens). But if I ever decided to show, I want to know what a judge would be looking for.
