Guineas for protection?

I am wondering what everyone's thoughts are concerning guinea fowl helping protect chickens from predators? Yes, no, maybe???

They will help in the sense that they will alert chickens to the danger.

I've heard mixed reviews on this. Some people swear by guineas as the look outs for chickens when it comes to predators. When I have a flock - 10 or more, they do work together to alert EVERYONE to whatever they perceive as a danger. I now have one male guinea in with 5 Rhode Island Reds and he's more interested in looking at himself in the mirror than guarding the flock. The girls are more wary and make the alerts now.

A friend of mine who has only one Guinea male left told me the same thing. She said he's also a lot quieter than the girl Guineas ever were.

They are good bugs, ticks, scorpions and snakes hunters!
But!
They will drive you insain with their vocalizations and they won't stop pecking your chickens!
