I've lost three guineas to a neighbor's dog. When they fly out of the coop and free range during the day, the don't seem to want to fly back in when the dog comes near. All they'll do is run around the run's fence but never try to fly away. There are lots of trees nearby they could fly up into as well. What can I do to teach them to fly away from danger?

There is nothing you can do Guineas lose all brain function when they are being chased I have seen them run to a fence and pace back and forth for 10 minutes before it dawns on them that they can fly.

I do love my guineas anyway

They say it takes 10 guineas to equal 1 brain! When I first hatched guineas, I kept about 20 to free range. This was also before I had 2 great pyreneese. I was down to 9 pretty quick. They do learn to fly rather than run eventually. The guineas and turkeys I free range now will get up and fly at the drop of a hat. OTSS!
