So, a little background info to start:

New chicken owner and you know- chicken math. Lol. I went to a chicken swap where all vendors are to be NPIP certified. Cool. So I go and get 2 year old silver laced Cochins and 2 four month old cuckoo marans. This was on 8/22/2020. On 9/1/2020, the one maran was gasping for air (literally no other symptoms prior) and died. To me, after doing research, made me think gapeworm. To cover all corners, I started the other three on tylan 50, 1mL orally and then gave them a dose of safeguard. On 9/2/2020, the one Cochin started with a gurgling sound. No discharge from anywhere. No coughing. Maybe the occasional slight sneeze. Acting completely normal otherwise. Crop is full at night, empty in the morning. Vet is thinking sour crop and told me to stop the tylan and give her yogurt and Pepto. I have not taken a video of her myself but I found the video (link below) of a hen that is doing the same exact thing. Any thoughts on what this may be?!?!?

Welcome to BYC, sorry for you loss. If you want to treat for gapeworms you need to give Safeguard for five consecutive days. Give 0.15 ml per pound of bodyweight five days in a row.

If you want to use they Tylan it must be given at least three times a day. Give no less than 0.2 ml per pound of bodyweight 3 times a day. If no improvement after 72 hours, stop.

The safeguard I used was the equine paste. I read somewhere to give a pea sized drop and repeat in 3 weeks.....?
She doesn’t seem to make the noise 24/7. Seems to be more in the morning (when her crop is empty) be in the evening when her crop is full.

The proper dosage for Safeguard was given in the previous post. Weigh your birds and give them the correct dose.

Glad you were able to see the vet, I think I would follow their advice and treat for Sour Crop.
Crop issues can cause some gurgling. Did the vet not perform a fecal float?
If you are noticing the symptoms mainly in the morning, then she may have respiratory disease like Infectious Bronchitis. How much ventilation is in your coop?

We did not do a fecal, but I can have that done at any time (I work for said vet). Ventilation is a bit of an issue right now because they are in a quarantine coop for the time being. They are let out literally as soon as the sun is up and never get shut in until they are ready. Working on cutting out “windows” on the coop and putting wire to allow for more air flow (coop is kept under a lean to so don’t have to worry about rain getting in when said windows are done).

See if more ventilation will help solve the respiratory issue.
A chicken with gapeworm generally will not be eating/drinking, they will be coughing, stretching their neck and gasping for air.
Some respiratory diseases can look similar as well.

That gurgling in the video, I have heard that with crop issues, but generally there is an underlying condition - in my case it was reproductive problems and some fluid in the abdomen (older laying hen). Inflammation (and the fluid) of the abdomen was causing her crop to not empty well, she was aspirating a little and I suspect if she had gone on she may have ended up with infection. I put her down and did a necropsy since she was declining fairly rapidly.

That's great you work for a vet! They should be able to tell you more about poultry diseases, you are lucky :)

Can I see full body pics? Is she otherwise in good heath?

She’s the one eating in the one pic. She’s very healthy otherwise. Good weight, energetic, eats/drinks, chases bugs. Acts like a completely normal healthy chicken except for the gurgle.
