All of my hens are molting. Every. Single. One. I was concerned at first because one of my hens that had her feathers ripped off by a rooster had just started to grow back and then she started losing all her other feathers! My barred rock and broiler are losing all their tail feathers and my isa brown’s chest down is molting. How are y’alls molting season going so far? My poor austrolorp looks like a battery hen right now :(

This was last years only molt. AND NOW ALL THE HENS ARE MOLTING AND GRUMPY!

I totally understand! This year, everybody seems to be having the hardest molts and it's all happening at once. One day, they look fine, the next, they're nearly naked.

I have been feeding feather fixer -- which because of its expense is a rare treat here -- and offering daily pep talks to my shabby girls.

They do get pretty shabby looking when molting. Mine are almost finished with the process, which is good because it's getting cold here in WY (it was in the 30's this morning).
