Ok its not like this is the first time its happened but the 2 that died in the past I knew what happened. This one is out of left field.

We bought these mail order through our local hatchery. When they arrived they were huge, healthy, and loud. So I let my mom take care of them this time since my hands are full and she let them get a little too cold. One almost died. I got it warmed up, watched him all night, made sure it was back to its normal vigorous self. Seemed fine. I still told my husband that I am not sure how much good me saving it did. I just had a feeling this was one that would not make it. I could give no reason. Just a feeling. A week later they all played in there water again. The same one just sat down shivering while all the others were still playing and cheeping their little heads off. I again took him on my lap and pulled out the hair dryer. It still seemed fine. Not as hearty as the others but no sickly. It was still loud, ate alot, pecked at my toes, played with the other, made huge amounts of water mess.

It was fine this afternoon. Was sunning with the others in a little baby pen we have set up. An hour or so later it was dead. No marks. Nothing obvious. No sneazing, No funny poop. So what do I do now. Are there protections I need to offer the other babies or does this just sound like a weak one not making it.

It sounds to me like a gosling that was more sensative to cold than the others. She showed it to you twice. I can't tell you why it was more cold sensative than the others but I have seen it in my own goslings. I had one that was slightly bigger than the rest of the hatch, when night fall would come there it would sit directly under the heat lamp while the rest would pick slightly cooler spots. I raised her to adulthood with no real problems but even as an adult she would pick a place in the sun while the rest would be looking for shade. She lived normally so I just considered it an individual difference. Sorry that I can't be of more help.
