Had a visitor the other night....

Is this a great horned owl? I'm just wondering. My chicken run is covered by poultry netting, clearly not strong enough to keep this sucker out, but did keep it in for a bit. Working on fixing the problem. One of my chicks decided to stay out of the coop and got eaten, but got some great pics out of the deal, so I've decided to forgive it unless it comes back!

That is indeed a GHO, and he/she will return. The are tenacious, brazen killers.

I had one get into one of my pigeon lofts (my fault) and he kept coming back for months trying to gain access. I'd see him out there in the evening on top of the aviary trying to figure why the bobs were not open.

Well, my chicks have been safely penned, so hopefully I won't see him/her again. I didn't even think they were in this area anymore, so in that sense it was good to see one. Good to know what I've got to watch out for too!
