half incubated Call Ducks eggs being eaten!

I have a Gray Call duck sitting on eggs for about 2 weeks. Last week there was 1 egg broken outside of the nest. I thought nothing about it.

Well, today I went out and there is another broken egg. The egg is still intact but with about a half inch hole in the egg.

Do you think that the mother duck is doing it (she has never broken an egg before) or something is climbing up the cage and getting in, like a wheasel?

The wire around the cage is i think 1 inch or 1/2 inch chicken wire, and the bottom floor is very small holed wire, that nothing could get through.

Maybe I should set a small trap tonight, with an egg in it and see if I catch something?

well if the egg is not fertile the duck will know and she will kick them out and break them.

it was fertile, because i saw the duckling laying on the ground with the blood. Could she know if the duckling had died in the egg?

yes she would know if it died in the egg also if there was a weasel then it would kill your duck to not just the eggs

That duck is also in a pen with a mother duck who has 8 ducklings, and they are all fine.
