Halloween Lockdown Day, Anyone Else?

Congrats! I'm glad you helped it!

I helped 2 of my 5 silkies hatch yesterday. Sure glad I did too because they are darn cute!

I thought I might catch some slack from the peeps that think you shouldn't help because of "nature". I think that's dumb.

Well, everyone has their own ideas as to what's best. I think you have to do what you think is right and what you can live with. I cannot live with standing idly by after 18-24 hours, therefore I will assist.

Especially with ducks, geese, and turkeys. They seem to be the hard ones to hatch. The humidity has to be up there, and trying to keep an incubator at 80 in humidity is really hard. I remember putting 4 different cups and glasses in mine to keep it up. I still had to help one. Hardly any blood in helping, it was ready, but that membrane was tough, and it had been a day and a half pipped..could see it's little beak, so I knew it was alive, but it wasn't rotating at all. It did fine once I helped a bit at a time.

To you and Faerytale Farms... EXACTLY!!

And for a little update, I have one more that just broke through the air cell. We'll see what happens. I have 2 in this "batch".

Thanks Cynthia. I upped humidity to 75. I hope that fixes the "problem" I had last week.

And as a generic update, All 9 of my silkie/sizzles are viable and have fully formed chicks. (from CMVickers due in a week)
Almost ALL the cochins I got from LuckyPickens are viable. I have 2 that are questionable, but she sent me 34 eggs. So that's not a bad ratio!

6 of the 8 duck eggs I put in are forming and looking AWESOME. I can see there little heartbeats..

And then my ducky girls decided to pop out 3 more eggs. I thought they were done, but apparently not.

My bator is FULL to the max right now.

Plus great news for me.... My brother in law is moving, which isn't so great news, but I get all 6 of their layers! Woo Hoo! And their newly constructed chicken coop! So I'm aquiring a couple Australops, (sp?), a barred rock, and they don't know what else they have.

It was a very eventful Poultry day!!

Wow, I'd say profitable poultry day! Congrats! Do you by chance have any that will hatch around the 18th? I have a thread started for that date. If so..come join!

I'm glad things are popping for you Quacker! I have 4 good Iowa Blues, they won't hatch until next Wednesday. But, I have about 30 eggs coming in the mail to me this week. Ya'll were fun to talk to, and very supportive of all. Thanks!
