I have a hand raised male muscovy. He was born last year. He is a Daddy to 9 babies that are now 5 weeks old. So here's the deal....is he aggressive? or just horny and trying to be dominate? I can approach him, pick him up, pet him, etc. He does not try to bite......but....He will not eat from my hand anymore. If I bend over with my back to him he has jumped on me and put holes in my clothes. (only once, I'm more careful now) He makes big displays of hissing, tail wagging, rubs his head and bill on the ground when he approaches me. Sometimes, if I walk away, he spreads his wings in chase. I have twice recently had to sit on him to get him to "chill". What's up with my duck? How is the best way to get him to mellow?
This behavior started soon after the hen started setting. I have read that male can get territorial at this point. But how does the biggest, baddest duck show dominance? Because that would be me.....I just don't know "duck" talk.

I had one just like you are describing, he just turned 2 yrs and we raised him inside because his mama tried to kill him, when he got about 6 months he became a holy terror, acting just like you are seeing with your drake, What you did is what I did Sit on him[ I'd place my knees on either side of his body and hold him down] hold him down just like I see my dominant drake do to other drakes, but don't let him get away with his business even once, I would even go out of my way to make him move by using my foot and scooting him, when he would come after me I would turn around and go after him, hold him down and not let him up till he calmed down, It doesn't happen over night but I can honestly say he is a gentleman around me now. We also got him 3 girls of his own, He's a happy boy now. Training is the key though, they get confused and think we are part of their harem.
