hello update, on my call ducks eggs, after 6 hatched healthy, she left the nest with those babies, and ditched the rest that hadn't hatched, 3 of those eggs went too cold and died, 4 of the other chick's had started to hatch but were very cold, i bought them inside and warmed them up, they have since hatched, three are going great, eating and drinking, but the fourth is very week, i hand feed it. i have been checking their temps, and are usually between 28 degrees and 31 degrees, my question is the heat lamp globe i have is 100w, how far away should i keep it from them?

Best way to know is to put a thermometer under the light and set the height by it's readings.
