Slowly pick up your outer fingers where you have the chick in palm...lol
Wash Hands after you handled them.
Petting a chicken on the roost.
Pet the crop to the belly, they will stand up for you and they will hopefully let you pet more.
I never grab a chick on the back at first, always a belly move.
