I have only hatched chicks 2 times and i always used a broody hen but I offered some fertile duck hatching eggs to and ffa program as a hatching project and want to help get the best hatch rate possible but I know absolutely nothing besides ducks taking 28 to hatch and not getting the eggs cold.

I have a kc pair and 3 rouen hens the 3 rouens seem a bit big for my tiny drake should I separate the kc pair and just use her eggs.

Is there any way to test fertility before incubating eggs?

Is there any thing else i should know?

The only way to check fertility is to break open a sample number of your eggs and inspect the yolks. If you have limited eggs, it's better to just incubate them all, candle at, I believe it's day 7, to check which aren't developing, and remove the ones that don't develop.
