I would love to have people post pics of their handmade egg baskets. This basket was the very first basket I ever made, I have since made many baskets over the years of many types. I use the basket daily to collect eggs, it really does have the right shape to keep them from rolling around.
This post is really a tribute to Lucille Wilson of La Luz New Mexico, one of my relatives who just passed away at the age of 91. She taught basket making to many many people over the years including me. She was one of the true woman inspirations in my life, an amazing roll model and I will miss her greatly. She was married to her DH for 70 years, yes seventy!

sorry to hear about your loss. that is a wonderful that she shared her talents with so many people! and you have a beautiful basket there too. that is quite a art, i have watched people do it before as a show at some antebellum homes here in the south. but have also seen indians do it on reservations too. very neat!
not many people stay married that long. for one reason or another these days. But God was very good to them to give them so much time together. we just never know how long we will have here on this earth.
so sorry for your loss, i know you will miss her.

edited to say: i won't show my shameful thing i use to collect eggs, lol! it usually is a bowl lined with a clean dishtowel

I collect my eggs in the cartons. I know...sad isnt it? The baskets I make are more for looking at, and I dont know how to make real baskets. I just play around with cat tail reeds...and weave untill it takes a shape sorta like a basket! LOL
