Hello everyone. I am new to BYC as well as being a chicken owner well or a rabbit owner. Now I am both. My girlfriend and I got the idea to build a chicken coop so that we could get some chickens for our 4 children to interact with and learn about how things should be when it comes to food. The coop was finished a few days ago and since we have obtained 3 new Zealand rabbits, 4 Dominique chickens including one awesome looking rooster, and two younger game hens that were given to us but they will help with sitting if needed hopefully. Our kids love them all and already have so much fun with all of them and I feel that once we start getting eggs they will have even more fun. Thanks for the great info on here and this really is a great site!!!!!!!

Sounds like you are really enjoying your flock! Chickens are so much fun to keep and not only can you teach your children about poultry, the birds themselves will teach you lots of things as well.

Thank you all I wanted a very kid friendly coop and pin and rather then buy one I figured it would mean more and be more fun to just build it.
