Look what we got for Father's Day!
Yeah, a snapping turtle laid her eggs in compost pile in front of coop this morning. Couldn't let the chooks out until she finished, then we moved her safely to the creek down the road. She's a protected species here. She'll be back, but it will be night by the time she gets back to our pond. Will be calling conservation authorities tomorrow to have the nest/eggs taken away. Unless a raccoon finds them first.

what a great Father's Day! We once had a air of musk turtles, but we had to give them away to a nature preservative because we couldn't afford a big enough enclosure for them. ( we got them as a gift when they were full grown, so we dint buy them. ) I actually kinda miss them. I'm curious to what their lives are now.
