Hi everyone! We have been raising chickens in the Sacramento area for a few years, but are this year first time baby chick parents! We have two 7 yo Wyandottes who are still laying! Our 5 additional chicks are inside right now warm and cozy and are about 2-3 weeks old. They include 1 Wyandotte, 2 Ideal 236, 1 white leghorn and 1 blue australorp. We love raising chickens. DH built the run and coop and DD at first helped a lot but the “fun” became actual work so she’s off doing her thing. I find it peaceful to check on them, change water, litter, feed and pick up poop! We let them roam and take dust baths at dusk. DD (9yo) loves tending to the baby chicks. It’s teaching her some great life skills and lessons (we unfortunately lost 2 from a bad lot - RIP Daisy and Bunny). Happy to be here and thanks for having me!
