I am not new to chickens as I grew up on a farm however, I moved back and have become so intrigued by them. At the moment I have 3 Roos (1 BCM/ 2 Black Amauracanas) in the bachelor pad coop. I have 2 BCM (roo and hen) and an Olive Egger hen in my other coop. And finally I have 5 Erminette Ameraucana hens and 1 Black Ameraucana hen and 1 Black Ameraucana Roo. So 13 total.
I have connected with all of them and my favorite story is I got my first egg from Ms Lady (BCM) on my birthday and after waiting for the Ameraucana to lay, I got my first blue egg on Christmas Day.
I love listening to them and really understanding what they are saying through body language and clucks.

I moved back home after having a great career in NYC which I still miss dearly. But my mother was in her final stages of Alzheimer’s and I came back to be her caregiver. She passed April 30 24 and I decided to stick around. I actually took over her role as youth director for our church and have had so much fun with those kids. I never really saw myself with kids so between the chickens and the youth group it’s a perfect match.
