Hello everyone!
My name is Chelsea, and I live in the part of Canada that is further south then some of the US.
My family followed our dream and moved to the country 5 years ago, and have been working up the nerve to start raising chickens on our 1.25 acre property ever since. In the meantime, I have been learning how to feed our ever expanding family from our own garden, with as many failures as successes. This past September, we finally bit the bullet, got ourselves a little used co-op, and three hens that were looking for a new home.
Now the chicken math is kicking in, and my hubby is working on plans to build a nice big coop that will house at least 20 birds. As my family eats a dozen eggs just for breakfast, we are hoping to have enough eggs within the year to be fully dependent from outside egg sources. I have used this community’s insight regularly over the last few years, and am
excited to dive deeper into the world of backyard chicken raising.
