I'm not sure if this is a disease or not. But I have noticed under my 6 month old Ameruncana hen that she has a whole cluster of white, hard lumps under her chin. They are very close to her skin so I cannot cut them, and I have soaked them in water but they do not seem to soften at all. I think they might be just dried feed but I'm not sure. Any ideas as to what they are and how to clean them off of her? Thanks.

Sounds like maybe lice eggs? For lice and mites, get some Gordon's permethrin spray from Tractor Supply, mix 5 ml per quart and spray her. Also spray her coop, nesting boxes, perch, etc. Repeat in 10-14 days.

If you don't think it's lice eggs, it would be helpful to see a picture.

Thanks for the information. It does look like them, but only in this one area. Her roommates do not have any at all. I will try the spray anyway. Thanks again.

@Callafarm, there are many types of lice, and the different species like different parts of the body. I have a good picture that I will try to find for you.
