Hard boiled eggs

I hard boiled a bunch of eggs and I would like to if I could chop up the shells with the eggs? Does the shell have to be a certain size ?

I've done it before with no problem they love it and I didn't worry about the size!!

The instructor from my chicken class said that shells are great for the chickens to add into their feed. She warned me to have them small enough so that they don't look like egg shells, as you don't want your chickens to associate their own eggs with food.

I don't have chickens yet, so I'm just letting you know what I was educated on.
