So it probably is my paranoia, but has anybody else had problems with quail poop being TOO solid? My pet quail is drinking less and less water since she stopped laying for the molt season, and her poop is smaller in size and much, much drier than before, to the point that I can pick it up with my bare fingers with no residue on both my hands and the floor. Well everybody seems worried about poops being runny so I thought maybe it's the same with moistless poops? I wonder if I have to figure out how to get her hydrated somehow quickly.

Are you giving just plain water? If you are giving any water with addition to it (electrolytes or ACV, for example) always offer plain water too. My quail drank less water when we added a tiny amount of ACV. They drank the plain water much more than the ACV water.

As long as they are eating gamebird feed well, you might also give some treats such as wet feed (provides some water), or small amounts of shredded cabbage or apples. Those were two things my quail adored. Often I would use the wet feed as the base and sprinkle the cabbage/apple on top.

good luck!

Drink, drink, drink, drink,.

Thank you for answering Left Spur, Acre4Me! So there is no scary lethal disease whose main sympton is drinking less water, I assume? I am giving her plain water straight from the tab as always and her poops have never been so dry, that's what got me worried. I'll try chopped lettuce and apples right away and see what happens. Thanks again!
