Hard shells

I can't believe how hard the shells of the eggs are! It took 3 hard whacks to break the shell on the eggs this morning. My gals get oyster shell and have been eating the heck out of it. (I only get 1-2 eggs/day - only 2 of 6 hens are laying so far). I love that the shells are hard but is it normal to be that hard?

Absolutely! If you want a real challenge raise up some ducks. I once dropped an egg from 4 feet up and the shell barely cracked.

You are feeding them well. The shells will thin out in time, but it will be a while.
