Hello, I'm planning a coop to build, and my contractor is recommending PVC hardware cloth. Our local feed store sells it for less than the galvanized stuff. I don't want mice and raccoons to be able to chew through it. Advice is welcome, that's why I'm here. Links to products are also very helpful so I can see specifically what' you're recommending.
Thanks so much!

Once the vinyl starts coming off of the wire it will rust. I wouldnt want to waste my time with it you either spend a little more now for something that last or spend a little less on something you'll have to replace sooner.

Most galvanized 1/2x1/2 HC is 16g.
The coated may only be 19g.

Are you sure? All 1/2" hardware cloth (and not as "cage wire") that I have ever bought has been 19g. Cage wire is sometimes sold in 1/2 x 1/2 and tends to be heavier, but it also costs a lot more than hardware cloth does.

Oops. I think I ate too much Easter dinner. And pie and ice cream.

1/2x1/2 should be 19g..

The PVC is 19g. I don't think there's any wire under the PVC, just PVC. But that's something I can check tomorrow.
