I thought i would bring this diuscussion away from the hatch along so as not to depress everyone.
I recently set some Brahma Araucana hybrids in the incy, 11 fully healthy reached lockdown.
Only 4 made it....... out of the 7 all were the wrong end, 2 pipped into blood vessels and bled out. 5 were DIS and after opening the shells were an assortment of malpositions, heads between feet, heads stuck under wings etc.
I was wondering if anyone has attempted this cross before and if so did they have any problems? Does crossing these breeds just simply not work well?
I can put it down to only two things, 1. the aruacana male was young (7 ish months). 2. The Brahma eggs have no pointy end as such and are nearly perfectly symetrical, maybe the hybrids got confused when trying to turn for the hatch?
I wont be attempting this again unless i can put it down to just awful luck.
