I so much agree on getting a better incubator. For success dont go cheap
I bought a cheaper one first
Just starting out didn't want to waste money if i didnt like it ..... got so excited about hathcing and 21days took forever to come...had no success..
Took 3 hatches before i got one chick ( shipped eggs)
Often not as easy as you think to get a 50% hatch rate ..... better chance with local eggs though .Some ppl are lucky others not so much.I wasnt and i did every possible thing that would help and still didn't do well.Extra GOOD themometers Id Calibrate extra hygrometers etc..
I had bought a Hovabator first not bad incubator but .... Then finally a Hovabator Genesis 1688 b/c the other don't hold the temp and it will often go perfectly for 2 weeks at 99.5-100 then one day for no reason spike to 114. which drive you up a wall. Can kill the eggs easily.
Geneisis doesn't do that. Has a Auto heat regulator
It is higher $ though because of that.
And hint....You don't need a turner .Cost a lot more.
Just Put the eggs in egg carton with holes cut out of the bottom of each egg hole for air circulation then tilt the carton up on piece of wood or something 3 times a day easy
Some ppl tilt the whole bator . instead
OK To get .even a better hatch rate though with a high success rate the
Brinsea.Mini
I dont have one.... A lot of $ for holding just 6 eggs agreed but i hear ppl on BYC have GREAT luck with them
Seems to me i havent seen anyone use one that didnt hatch 4 of 6 eggs at least. % wise when you think of it.... not too bad for only 6 eggs at a time
Many hatched 5 of 6 that i saw
.No complaints about it I dont think either. Maybe hatched babies crowded as others hatched but thats all.
GOOD LUCK!!
