A week ago I went to the feed store to let my duaghter pick out some chicks for her to raise for 4-H . And of course she picks out those ugly little turkins..I also let her pick out a few chicks out of several other breeds. So I have 30 little birds it my brooder. But I am begining to like these ugly little guys. They have a personality all there own. They seem to be more active and high strung than the rest of our babies. When w let them out in our yard to play they are running back and forth chasing each other , my daughter says it looks like they are playing tag. One even cuaght a fly in mid air!! I don't know how they will be when they are older but they are a riot right now. I do think I may even be the one picking out some next year!!

To own one is a blessing! I got started when I got into showgirls (silkie x turken). I now have too many to count, and more on the way! The rooster is a real sweetie, the hens lay BIG brown eggs, and the chicks are hilarious!

I think you'll be VERY happy!!!

So far I am hooked, they remind me of minature ostriches. And I dont know what sexes they are, I think I have two Roo's and a pullet. But it is really hard to tell because they are pretty much bald on both ends.

They are just another one of Gods jokes i think.

My son want some realy bad. I have been contemplating getting some, just not sure when. I think they are cute, hubby says they are attrociuos! Men have no taste!

Oh yes! Oh yes! My most favorite chicken was a buff turken I named Marilyn (after Marilyn Monroe because she was so beautiful. That was meant to be tongue in cheek when I named her but she was such a dear that she fit her name perfectly). You are correct in noting that they have wonderful personalities and I've been trying to find another like her since she was taken by a fox last year.

So far, no luck. I've found people either love them or hate them (just because they have naked necks! Talk about prejudiced!!) and it sounds like you're going to be in the "Love 'Em" group. That's good...very very good!

What they lack in looks they make up for in personality. Does anyone know if they are good egg layers? that is the main perpose for getting them- besides for my daughter to show for 4-H. like I stated above they werent my first pick but they have kind of weasled thier way into my heart. And you can probably find me at the feed store next year getting me some more of these naked little birds.

Yeap love them or hate them. My DW hates them but, I love them. I let my friend have all of mine where I can go visit them. They are 3 months old now and are starting to look even better.
