So the guy who sold me three of my new pullets has a bunch of Partridge Chanteclers that came in same shipment with the birds I got so they would be about 6 or 7 weeks now, and they look nice but not one person has bought one. They are getting pretty big. I can't figure out why no one has taken them home yet. They look like very pretty birds-really rich pretty color and plush shiny feathers.

Has anyone ever kept them? Are they nice birds? What are the eggs like?

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply:)

I just bought my first chicks and am building my first coop. I am really trying to keep it small and simple to start out with, but it's really hard not to keep bringing more chicks home. The Chanteclers are so pretty and I would love to give one of the them a home-I would like to bring them all home! Can't figure out why they haven't been snapped up already.
I don't know which hatchery he got them from, but I think they are especially rare out here-I'm in California and that makes sense if they are good in the colder climates. Out here, they have to be pretty good in the heat because about 30 days out of the year we get triple digit weather.

Thanks for sending the links-I will go check those out.

No but I have 4 month-and-a-half-old buff chanteclers (not an APA color but they do exist) and rather to my surprise I *really* like them. They are friendly, and will stand up to the other chickens (even the wingnut Campine cockerels always trying to Start Something) yet are never the instigators of trouble. It's like, they're Bad and they know they're Bad and they don't have to prove it to anybody <g>

Go on, get them, you know you want to

They may be unsold just b/c it's an unfamiliar name and not on anybody's shopping list.

I just stopped back in yesterday and there was a tag on their box-it looks like someone called or came in and bought up almost all of them-I am glad they found a home:D
