Has anyone ever used a fish tank water heater?

I'm not sure if my girls got any water today. The water was frozen and I was gone all day. By the time I was home, they were asleep. My husband says that we can buy a fishtank water heater and that would keep the water from freezing. Has anyone ever used that or what do you think of that idea?
