Has anyone gone through ovary removal with their hen? Also, birth control questions $$

Hello all. Orpington is still doing well, however I sense the days are numbered. Briefly, we were initially told she had an oviduct tumor. That has now changed to be more likely some sort of oviduct impaction and subsequent EYP (never remember the updated term for EYP). We have drained her two times at the vet for comfort, and now one time at home a couple of days ago.

This is my struggle: I want a vet that can safely perform the surgery on her, to remove the ovary (our current vet is too concerned to attempt that, but is willing to try and remove the oviduct and material).

My options are currently A. Try the implant. B. Try the implant and do the oviduct removal (not 100% sure this is currently necessary as she appears perfectly happy and active). C. Try and find a vet that can remove her ovary without killing her (this one feels nearly impossible however our vet mentioned a Dr. Bean around the twin cities that might give it a try. I did reach out to them and will try again Monday).

It seems if I'm going to risk a surgery, I may as well do one surgery (ovary included) and be finished with the whole ordeal.

If anyone has a vet recommendation, especially in the Midwest, please share!!

As far as the implant birth control goes, our vet quoted us 560$ for two implants...so I'm taking that to mean, if it works well, that's no more than eight months worth the coverage total (according to the DVM poultry).

I did find a pharmacy online that appears legit (although does not look legit hah) for a bit less.

Does anyone have an online pharmacy recommendation for the implant?

Thank you in advance!!!

Hiya! She's so pretty.

I'm up here in the Midwest and I have no vets up here for poultry, but I do have one in Clintonville that's a new exotic pet vet and sees my macaw parrots. She wasn't licensed for farm animals when we were last there about 6 months ago, but still, if you'd want me to check she may know someone.

I checked a couple of online pet pharmacies I know of and thus far the two don't sell implants. I can check further if you haven't found anything else yet.
