I have a girl who was attacked by a coyote over the weekend, and she has quite a horrible bite on her back. I'm all set as far as wound care info, etc., but was just curious about whether anyone else had seen the following behavior? This morning I saw her putting shavings on her back and thought she might be getting ready to lay whatever egg was in the pipeline when the attack occurred. I checked an hour later, no egg, and it turns out she had deliberately packed her wound full of shavings. I picked them all out and am switching her bedding to brown paper bags until the wound closes up a bit, but it was very interesting to me that she had taken that approach to wound self-care. Anyone else seen this?
