Has anyone seen this before?

This is our new baby. I know the picture isn’t the best. My husband calls it scissor bill. He/she has no issues eating, was the first one to hatch and is bigger than its brothers and sisters. While it looks worse than it did when it first hatched, he/she seems to be otherwise healthy and fine. My husband doesn’t think it stands much of a chance of survival. Has anyone else dealt with this before?

I haven't personally but if it is eating and drinking now then I'd give it every chance at having a normal life Maybe a deeper bowl for feed so the little one can scoop and of course deep bowls for water anyway.
Thanks so much. My husband doesn’t agree but I don’t think it is suffering. I think it deserves a chance

It may be fine, but cross beak is a skeletal deformity that can affect things yet unseen.
There are often other abnormalities internally.
Hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

Other ducklings from the hatch are all OK?
Incubator hatch with eggs from your own birds...or....?

Brothers and sisters are fine. They were hatched from my flock of muscovies in my incubator

There was a topic on this previously; so yes it has been seen.
I don't get internetting fully so I can't give you a link to that topic.

But if it eats; I think you made a good choice. If he/she is not viable it will show eventually unfortunately. But you will never know by just culling it because it "might" have problems later. Maybe it doesn't and manages to have a happy life with it's deformed bill? Sturdy animals those ducks.
