Has anyone tried this? Hatching egg without its shell.

I will say, I had to do something like this in my college biology class. (It was a class about human development, and we removed a window on the chick's shell in order to introduce different elements into the chick's environment). It was extremely difficult because the chick was close to hatching and was as @MGG described - blinking, kicking, and peeping. The chicks did not survive, they were euthanized after our labs were completed. I can't imagine going through it again. I would not want to do it as part of a hobby.
