Has anyone tried this?

I have 7 - 10 week old hens. One was injured and I had her out of the flock but just on the outside of the coop so they could see and hear each other. When I put her back in the others seem to be pecking at her when she tries to eat or basically gets in their way. A local farmer told me to spray them all with some kind of scented body spray or something so they all smell the same and everything should go back to normal. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it?

We were wondering if that was behind the idea of putting them on the perch at night with the others, so thay wake up smelling the same as everyone else. I have never heard of the spray, but maybe someone else has.

Let us know what happens if you try it.

You can try it, but chickens are notorious for having a poor, if any, sense of smell. So sure, try it and see, but don't necessarily pin all your hopes on it

Good luck, have fun,

From my research smell has nothing to do with it. Chickens flock up and establish a pecking order....they are sorting things out the way chickens generally do. some flocks are more vicious in how they figure this out than others....
