Hello Everyone,

We have a new 4x8 coop just about ready to house our two small hens. Before I add the shavings, I am wondering if I should try lining the floor with drawer liner (those sheets with the sticky backs that adhere to wood.) I'm thinking this would help to preserve the wood flooring, as I have left it unpainted due to concerns about the birds eventually scratching off the paint and ingesting it. I'm also thinking that it would be easier to clean the floor after removing the shavings as well. I am curious if anyone here has ever tried drawer liners in their coops, and if so, how well have they worked for you?

I simply use my cut up feed bags for liners which works wonderfully.

I wouldn't use the sticky type liner as it won't stick well with all the dust and gunk and be miserable to take off.

Just put down dry liner...and like I said...cut up your clean, empty feed bags. It works like a charm.

Agrees on no sticky backed stuff.
I used a single sheet of heavy duty foam backed vinyl...see My Coop for details.
