Has anyone used these premade plans?

I bought the same thing and came here looking for advice on building it. So, here's hoping there is someone on the forum who has.

If not, as I go along my way building, I'll let you know how it goes.

Sounds good.

My plan is to start gathering supplies this week. I have a friend who works for a metal roofing company and he said he can get me some remnants. Pretty happy about that part!

That's the coop my dad and I built (he's 79 and I'm 54, so if we could do it...). I made a couple of modifications, outside nest box and larger access door. You can see a couple of pics on my BYC page. It wasn't difficult at all and is great for 3 or 4 hens. If you even think you're going to want more (I bet you will, I do) modify it even further and make it bigger, especially the run area.
The one thing you will need to remember with this coop. The enclosed portion of the "coop" is really only a roosting box. Your chickens cannot stay enclosed in there, but must be allowed out during the day. There just is not enough room for them to be kept locked in. This is a great coop for a very small flock that will also be allowed some free range time. If you need to keep them in the pen full time, make the pen area bigger. I have 4 girls and I added an extension to the pen because I had to stop free ranging because of hawks. Of course, now I want a bigger coop and pen and more chickens.
It's still a great coop/pen for 3-4 chickens and if you're in the city it blends really well to keep the neighbors happy. Good luck and have fun.

Good insight MimiChick. My plan is to have them free range(ish)-- only out when I'm in the backyard too, because there are hawks around here too.

So, I think I'll just extend the run. I totally want more, but I have 8 and I'm figuring some will end up being roosters.. (our city ordinance says only 3 and no roosters). I hope I end up with 6 layers (4 of which are bantams, so hoping that makes a difference with how many can fit in the coop? I'm slightly worried about this part now) And having something nice that the neighbors like is definitely a good thing, lol. I don't want the chicken police called on me for having too many.
