So I bought store bought "infertile" eggs well 8 of them have lil chicks in them and 2 have just pipped, it's so stressful waiting for them to hatch and I'm away all day :(. Last night the electricity went it happened last time when I first incubated eggs (chickens) so I got the generator running and now it's all ok. Whew! I'll be back at 4pm so I'll post an update

Looking forward to the update!! I’m sure you’ll have a bunch of cuties waiting for you. I’d say they’re pretty lucky to have someone like you willing to give them a chance at life ❤️

Sometimes it's better to have something to do on hatch day! Sitting home all day watching them can be stressful and may lead to accidentally assisting when not necessary. I'm sure you'll come home to many new babies!
So true.
I watched my last ones for hours and they weren't getting anywhere.
Went and did a hour and a half worth of chores and came back in to find 4 or 5 hatched.

Also, never assist in the first 24 hours. Just because they pip, does not mean they are ready to hatch. They still have to absorb the yolk sac. This takes time. They pip to access more air. Also do not open the incubator unless it's an emergency because they will shrinkwrap.

Now 6 out of the 8 eggs are pipped hopefully I'll get chicks tonight. I have the brooder set up ready for the lil guys
