This is my first hatch. Had 200 Bob White Eggs due to hatch yesterday. I am using GQF Incubator. 200 eggs were placed in the hatching tray lined with GQFs absorbtive paper used in their brooders. I had pips yesterday, and this morning I had a handful of birds hatched. They were moving a lot of the eggs around, so I transfered the hatched birds into my GQF Cab hatcher (I got it in the day after I set the eggs in the hatching tray in my bator...great timing) and have sprinkled game bird starter (28% from Co-op) and have a game bird waterer in the tray.
Temp on both is 100.0 and humidity is between 78-80%. Even with the paper, two of the 9 chicks that have hatched have straddle leg. Is there a chance that will improve or should they be culled? Was that due to the eggs being packed in too closely? Would it be a good idea to move some of the eggs to a different tray in the hatcher so they have more room? Or do some chicks just have straddle and there is nothing that can be done?
Also, I just layed the eggs on their sides, I assume this is way to late to put them in a carton pointed end down?
Thanks
