Thinking about trying to hatch in cartons up right
Ive always laid them on sides may try half one side and half in cartons
Is this a bad idea any input will b great

Lots of people hatch in egg cartons. Many of the big hatcheries do this. It's purpose is to keep the chicks from downing. I personally prefer to let them hatch naturally on their sides. I find that upright hatches are harder for the chicks to get out of the egg. It is hard enough to zip out and being upright can make it harder. But all this is personal preference for you.

My last hatch (first hatch) I put them in the turner from days 1-17 and on days 18-21 I moved them into egg cartons. Out of the 9 eggs that made it to lockdown alive, 9 ended up hatching! I've also heard that the way you have them lain on days 1-17 is the way they should be during lockdown. For example, if your eggs are on their side for the first 17 days, hen they should be on their side for lockdown.

i,ve been hatching in cartons, i find the eggs don,t get knocked around by the early hatclings that way.
