Hatchability rates?

Hello,
this is our little farm's and family's first time ever hatching chicks(from our own flock no-less). I am just wondering what a good hatching rate is?

I have 5 groups of eggs that were collected from 5 consecutive days set in our incubator. Group 1 is on it's 23 day of incubation with 7-8(8th- I'm not sure if eyes were just playing tricks on me) eggs out of 11 rocking about... If all 7-8 hatch out successfully, would it be considered a good hatching rate?

Also, how long from when the egg starts rocking to when they make the first pip?!? Some of ours have been rocking for 3.5 days.

Normally, you collect eggs for 7 to 10 days then set them all at the same time.

If you are on day 23 and nothing had hatched then most likely your temp or your humidity is incorrect.


Fresh eggs will often hatch on days 19 or 20 instead of day 21.

Temp sounds like the most like culprit. Has it been fluctuating much to your knowledge?
