I know! I bought 12+ eggs, he was super awesome and sent 20, 16 made it to lockdown, and I have 14 beautiful babies. He was my only surprise - all other pure breeds as purchased as far as I can tell. The 3 other BLRWs are just right! So I think he must have gotten one mixed in by accident. I just don't know what it is!!! Any guesses!?? I have emailed the seller as well. Thanks!

I have one vote for silkie mix on another thread. Still haven't heard from the seller. Anybody else care to throw out a guess??? I would really appreciate it!!!!

Was it a really dark brown egg? If it was it could be a Blue Copper Maran. Could also be a blue Cochin? They have feathered feet as well.

Nope, the egg was a very light brown and I'd say medium in size, just like the Wyandotte eggs. It's definitely smaller than the Wyandottes, also.

Ohmygosh! How adorable!!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that you guys are right. So cute! Wonder if a Silkie snuck in the BLRW pen????

With that single comb, sparsley feathered legs and lack of 5 toes and total silkie shape I doubt its a silkie cross. Maybe the breeder has a mixed flock of layers and bantams just for egg production/broodies and got 1 egg mixed in by accident(kept in same pocket when collecting from the BLRW?). I know I have done that before myself. Am collecting eggs from my purebreds and production mutt flock and accidentally mixed up which coat pocket had what.........

I'll be perfectly happy with a little random mix, too. This is my first time so I'm overly eager, anxious, and curious about pretty much all of this!!! It will be fun to watch him/her change!
